Foxsnakes

Common

Fox Snakes are one of the most common snakes in the State. They are almost always confused with the Threatened Bullsnake. They can be found just about anywhere, but seem to favor marshy areas surrounded by timber. They are one of the few constrictors that are common on the Des Moines Lobe area of IA. In South Central Iowa, Fox Snakes seem to be repaced by the Praire Kingsnake around the Hwy 34 Corridor and therefore are not as common. But from what I have seen, that is the only part of the state that this occurs.
